Robin Ince
Robin’s hilarious performance at last year’s festival was such a hit, we couldn’t resist having him back this summer.
Robin started as a comedy writer, working on V Graham Norton, Alistair McGowan’s Big Impresison and Meet Ricky Gervais. He appeared with Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Jimmy Carr in the Edinburgh show Rubbernecker. He also supported Gervais on his Politics and Fame tours and made a cameo performance in BBC comedy The Office. Robin can often be seen on TV panel shows and as a talking head. In 2005, he began running the Book Club night, where acts are encouraged to perform turns of new and experimental material. The Book Club proved to be so successful that Ince took it on a full UK tour in 2006 and won the Time Out Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy. Robin often works along side greats such as Josie Long, Chris Addison, Richard Dawkins, Simon Singh and Philip Jeays.

He is also the evil mastermind behind the Kill for a Seat Comedy clubs across the UK, and has performed with the Comedy Store’s MEN at Work satirical team and Monkey Lab Improv. As an actor, he was offered the male lead in The Graduate in the West End opposite Jerry Hall, but turned it down to play Peter ‘Geordie’ Gardner in BBC’s Second World War film “Night Flight” alongside Christopher Plummer & Edward Woodwood. Caton wrote and starred in the show and was rewarded with a Hotshot award from Broadcast magazine.

Jonathan Elston
onathan Elston is a comedian in his early twenties. Despite his tender age he has been gigging ferociously since his teens. He first started comedy while at univeristy. However due to early victories at infamously difficult gong shows it meant that the degree soon lost it’s importance and he limped towards his 2:2 and the inevitable dissapointment this brought his parents.

The degree wasn’t the only thing to have been negativity affected by Jonathan’s new found love of comedy. Due to his early successes and the bookings that they brought it meant that he was rarely to be found out of a coach or car. The carbon footprint that Jonathan has created since his career began is big enough to have destroyed a football pitch sized hole in the Brazilian rainforest. Despite the havoc he is wreaking on the rainforests Jonathan is steadfast in his focus and continues to be one of the most sought after young acts working the circuit.
Tony Cowards
Tony, originally from sleepy Suffolk but now an adopted “cocker-knee”, has been performing his particular brand of hilarity all over the country since 2004. A genial gagster whose material covers a wide spectrum (mostly semi-autobiographical and observational with a pinch of topicality), his quick wit has made him sought after as an act and compere by Mirth Control, Christian Knowles Productions and various independent promoters around the UK; performing at clubs across the UK.
Tony’s likable ‘everyman’ character and wide ranging humour means that he is comfortable in front of any audience and is regularly booked to host comedy nights for the military (entertaining various regiments, from the Irish Guards to the Royal Army Dental Corps) as well as universities, football clubs, festivals and for corporate work. Tony recently made the breakthrough into TV as a football pundit on “Anglia News”, and appearances on BBC’s Celebrity Scissorhands and “The One Show” and film (in the demanding role of “Comedy Club Customer #2″ in the horror classic “Hellbride”).
Tony will be performing on Sunday night.
Del Strain
Del Strain.
A Scottish Disadent who has been in London since ‘89 who got into Stand Up 5 years ago reaching the final of the Hackney New Act Competition on his 5th gig! which is no mean feat.
As well as writing Sketchs for itv and the BBC 1 Scotland Karen Dunbar Show he has made tv and radio appearences from X-FM and Talksport to Sky Poker and the Itv 1 program The 5 O’clock show doing his Stand Up, Del is quickly becoming one to take note of on the circuit, and certainly has enough potential in him to become a very big name indeed.
Ben Davids
Hailing from deepest, darkest Tamworth, Ben Davids has established himself as one of the brightest new acts on the circuit in recent years.
His act is a barrage of non-stop gags and one-liners that range from the silly to the very silly indeed, and that will provide something a bit different for any comedy night. Ben will be performing on Friday night.
Ben has competed in a number of competitions including:
- Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year – Finalist
- ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ Gong Show, Champion’s Final 2009 – Winner
- You Must Be Joking Comedy Competition 2009 – 2nd place
- Anything for Laffs New Act Competition 2007 – 3rd place
- English Comedian of the Year 2009 – Finalist
Matt Richardson
Hailing all the way from Didcot, this oxfordshire based fall out boy is making some nice waves on the UK comedy scene.
Winner of the Chortle Student comedy awards Bristol, Matt is really starting to make a name for himself, Matt appears on stage like a middle class Lee Evans, chirpy and bouncy with an air of innocence that make his stories believable from the the get go.
Oxford Imps
The Oxford Imps are the improvisational comedy troupe associated with Oxford University. They were reviewed as “the best improvised comedy show I have ever had the pleasure to witness” by Edinburgh Fringe festival magazine.
They have extensively toured all over Europe and appeared on BBC2 quiz show Eggheads in 2009.
