Oysterband

OysterbandOnce the bad boys of folk and rock, Oysterband have grown over the past five years into the role of musical custodians and godfathers of folk. Collaborative tours with rising young stars under the banner of The Big Session, and numerous awards including Best Group in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, have led to the most exciting time in Oysterband's considerable history. Little Boots

Little BootsBritish electronica musician Little Boots sings, plays synthesizers, tenori-on and the stylophone.

She has previously collaborated with electropop band Hot Chip. The track Stuck on Repeat was produced by Joe Goddard from Hot Chip in 2008. The track gained popularity via attention from many popular music blogs.

Little Boots has appeared on Later... with Jools Holland In January she won the BBC Sound of 2009 previously won by Keane, Mika and Adele.

The Beat

The BeatThe Beat originally formed in 1978 and produced three albums, packed with pop, punk rock, reggae, ska and soul. They released a number of popular singles, including "Mirror in the Bathroom", before disbanding in 1983. Members of the band have collaborated with The Specials, The Ordinary Boys and performed on the track "Free Nelson Mandela". Since re-forming in the early 2000s, The Beat have had continued success with popular tours of the UK and beyond.

The Mummers

The MummersThe Mummers have roots in China, India and Mexico and influences a ranging from Motzart to Rufus Wainwright and the Flaming Lips. Lead singer Raissa, who's sweeping vocals are reminiscent of Björk at her finest, says that their songs are designed to "make fairytale versions out of the mundane".

Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds

AdeAdrian Edmondson is best known as a comedian in The Young Ones, Bottom, and The Comic Strip Presents.

He's no stranger to the music world having played the Monsters of Rock and Reading Festivals with Bad News, the Hootenanny with Jools Holland, Hyde Park with The Who, and he's toured with The Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band.He's also had a No 1 single with Cliff Richard! As a director he made lots of music videos in the 80's for the likes of The Pogues, Squeeze, Elvis Costello and 10,000 Maniacs.

Spiro

SpiroSpiro are four Bristol-based acoustic instrumentalists who wrap their own intriguing, uplifting and unsettling multi-layered contemporary sound around the bold traditional tunes of Northern England. The immensity of Spiro's sound belies the simplicity of the line-up of violin, accordion, mandolin and acoustic guitar.

Ten Bears

Ten BearsTen Bears are one of the hotly tipped groups for 2009. Lead by the casual charm of Sam Hammond, Ten Bears have beencausing a stir around Manchester and UK music venues. Their energetic 'cosmic dirt rock' delivers up pop slices such as 'Charlie', 'To TheMoon' and 'Zeus'.

Their debut single 'Dirt On The Radio' is being used as the theme tune to T4's Orange Act Unsigned. After recently returning from a UK tour and a tripto Georgia they are currently in the studio working on new material with Ric Levy (Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Mystery Jets).

Long Trick

After two years playing together as a duo (including a very well-received debut at last year's Wychwood Festival), blues stars Dan Collins and Dave Rigg have joined forces with drummer Tim Gilroy and bassist Jerome Dineen to form the four piece band Long Trick.

The addition of a rhythm section has added a new dimension to their playing - always known for the energy of their live performances, the new four piece set-up has taken everything up another gear. Take Dan's rough and ready guitar style, add in Dave Rigg's blistering harmonica, and finish off with a funky super-tight rhythm section - mix it all up for a set full of raw blues and southern soul with just a hint of gospel."

Jake Flowers

Jake FlowersJake Flowers writes country-groomed folk-pop songs, most often fashioned in a tin shed. As well as playing his debut Glastonbury last summer,over the past year Jake Flowers has performed with the English Symphony Orchestra. He has played to 24,000 football fans at half-time on the pitch at Molineux.

His songs have been heard on radio stations across the country from BBC Radio 1 to Kerrang Radio and XFM Scotland.

Influenced by aging shop stewards and people of principle, Shellsuit arelooking for like minds who are happy to listen to ideas, but stick totheir values.

The October Game

They blend elements of post-rock, folk and ambience to create a unique form of quintessentially English alternative rock music. They released our first album 'Box Of A Billion Lights' in 2006 through their own independent label, Carmandie Records.

Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music said that the song Concrete (When We Were Invincible) was one of his favourite tracks of the year. "Every now and then a track grabs you right from the get go and touches you on a deeper emotional level - from the killer groove, the intertwining guitars to the heartfelt vocal, I love this song". The October Game will be playing in Tom Robinson's "Fresh on the Net Sessions".

Miners Club

Miners ClubMiners Club was created when Tom Baker from Reading based band Nexus Bloom stayed with three brothers Bronte, Olly and Wilbur from the Australian band Amundsens Flag. It was on their farm 700km west of Adelaide where they wrote and recorded an album in a run down cottage. Folk-rockers Miners Club will be playing in Tom Robinson's "Fresh on the Net Sessions".

Motion Picture Association

Starting out as a noise project in early 2007, Motion Picture Association have gone to extreme measures to create their own take on Phil Spector's wall of sound, taking cues from The Beach Boys, My Bloody Valentine and Shellac.

Described by listeners as the sound of everything trying to explode, Motion Picture Association take a scientific approach. What may at first seem like bedlam is actually sound controlled to the point of decimation, punctuated with subtly audible pop melodies.

Witches

WitchesWitches are a six-piece rock band from Oxford. Their songs are inventive and wide-ranging, with intense guitars, mariachi trumpet, analogue keyboards and melodic vocal lines.

Witches debut album Heart of Stone continues to be warmly received by journalists and radio stations the world over. They are currently writing their second album.

Witches have been played on Tom Robinson's 6Music Introducing show and have supported various acts including Low vs Diamond and The Sugababes.

Witches were selected to play at Wychwood having won Jack.fm's Next Big Thing competition in April.
